Abstract EN

The paper is an attempt to study the Samurai and their impact on Japan's modern and contemporary history.

The hypothesis is that The samurai, the Japanese warriors who began their role in Japan in the early Middle Ages as guards or security men, wore the chemo uniform, but with time they took on the role of the ancient Japanese warriors.

They became an important social class combining the spirit of combat and courage and virility, in addition to the expansion of their role as an intellectual class absorbed Dutch education and became the era of Edo teachers of the rest of the other social classes, especially in the late stage of isolation (1636-1867) until the revolution of Emperor Meiji (1868 - 1912), which abolished their feudal privileges to end the role of samurai as a social class divided into two groups: the first group: rejected the new situation and preferred to resist the weapon and declared the revolution against Emperor Meiji, but their revolution failed.

The second group: accepted the new situation and became one of the most important men of the Meiji revolution and led modern Japan, but in a new style completely different from the previous situation.

The current Paper attempts to study the history of the samurai and trace their influence in modern and contemporary Japan.

Despite the great developments and transformations in Japanese society, there are those who say that the samurai is the spirit and special character of Japan, and one of the reasons behind the Japan's development and its first rise in the Meiji era and the second after World War II.
