Faced with the lack of psychometric tools adapted to the mentally handicapped especially the trisomic, we discussed in this article the stages of the development of a test of the language.

This type of tools is of paramount importance in speech therapy, it allows to measure and to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the language to ensure better management and the development of therapeutic protocols The Kabyle oral language test is intended for the category of children who carry trisomy 21 who is (9-16 years of age) who speaks the Tamazight language (kabyle dialect).

The test consists in its final version of three Capacities (comprehension test, oral expression test, pragmatic test).

To ensure the psychometric characteristics of the test, we measured validity and reliability using several methods: We obtained: (0.95) validity and (0.91) reliability, so that these psychometric characteristics of this test are valid.

The final version of the test consists of 120 items divided into three dimensions: verbal comprehension (42 items), verbal expression (62 items), pragmatics (16 items).
