After having worked for a long time on the old Arab literary studies, The Algerian literary Critic «Abd al Malek MORTAD » has succeed in dealing with the western critical methods.

That's what made him a « typically» model which we have to study it.

This paper will focus on Mortad’s Book entitled: " The analysis of narrative discourse» in which, he tried to apply the semiotic method considered as a relevant tool of the analysis of narrative texts.
