Peut-on parler d'une diaspora Algérienne ?

Abstract EN

The concept of "diaspora" is widely used in the last thirty years in Anglophone and Francophone literature.

It is applied to designate Chinese, Indian, Lebanese, Jewish, or black migrants, etc.

Also, in the last five years, this term makes it’s entry in Algeria and becomes in vogue in the political and media sphere substutuant thus supporting that of Algerian community established abroad which officially designates this part of Algerian population.

However, do Algerians living abroad form a diaspora? The question is worth asking because it is not definitively decided on this community.

Starting from the analysis of contemporary literature (Armstrong 1976, Sheffer 1986, Cohen 1997, and Dufoix 2012) of the concept of diaspora, this article deals with this acquaintance in the case of Algerian migration.
