Abstract EN

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the effectiveness of housing programs in Saudi Arabia using the descriptive analytical method.

A random sample was selected from five geographical regions in Saudi Arabia (middle, eastern western, northern and southern).

The results indicated that the land grant program, which is provided by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, scored a low level of effectiveness.

However, the remaining housing programs scored a medium level of effectiveness.

These results demonstrated that housing programs need to raise their level of effectiveness so as to reduce the gap between demand and supply in the Saudi housing market.

The study proposed some recommendations that can help increase the level of effectiveness of die housing programs.

These recommendations include: (1) halting the distribution of non-residential lands that lack public services, and (2) the housing programs that target supply need to move fester compared to those that target demand.
