Abstract EN

Due to the growing importance of population data, its extensive use in planning and policy making, and the lack of studies evaluating vital statistic forms in Saudi Arabia, this study aimed to evaluate forms used in the registration of vital events (Births and deaths) based on the regulations issued in 1962 and 1986.

It is noteworthy that these forms were benchmarked with international recommendations.

One of the most important results of this study was that the forms used in registering vital events in Saudi Arabia are not fully compliant with international recommendations and they do not contain some topics that are recommended internationally.

This indicates that these forms need to adhere to international recommendations in order to be more useful and comparable.

Based on these findings, it was recommended to observe international recommendations and improve the content and design of vital statistic forms in the future.

It was also recommended to evaluate these forms periodically in order to meet the needs of data users and make them more comparable to international standards.
