Abstract EN

This study is limited to the analysis of television footage, its aesthetic components (non-linguistic), functions and semantics in television discourse.

It is considered as one of the basic studies insofar as it refers to scientific activities that seek to reach theoretical generalizations which would contribute to the growth of scientific knowledge in this field and lead to a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of practical applications.

The study seeks to answer the following mam question: What are the methods of analysis of footage in television discourse? The study aims at: (1) framing the analysis of footage in television discourse by drawing on the concepts, theories, methods and techniques of discourse analysis; (2) developing the knowledge and skills of analysts in this specialized media field.

One of the most important findings of the study is that the analysis of footage in television discourse can reveal die filming problems therein.

The study recommended die following: (1) To conduct and extend Arab research in this field beyond descriptive studies; (2) To pay special attention to the expression 'analysis of television discourse" as a whole in media colleges and universities as well as among directors and cameramen.
