Abstract EN

This research aims at studying the constitutional amendment mechanisms in Algeria, and its effectiveness in protecting the populer choise from any manipulation of the ruling political forces who may direct the general constitutional provisions to serve their interests and exclude competitors.

For this, the proposed constituting different procedures to revise the constitution, or by appealing the people or their representatives.

However, the degree of protection depends on the personal respect of state institutions to protect the choice of the people, in addition of popular awareness of the legal consequences of voters texts set for referendum so it may allow amendment of the constitutional provisions indirectly through its application.

The constituent tried to strengthen those procedures with legal measures at various levels.
