Consumption is one of the widespread topics in the economic research, due to its importance in the economic activity as a one of the most important components of the aggregate demand.
The largest percentage of individual’s income is headed for consumption.
Therefore, it may accelerate drive growth and stimulate economic activity towards prosperity.
Accordingly, this research paper attempts to identify the basic factors determining the consumption in the Algerian economic over the period from 1990 to 2015 using the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS).
The findings of this study showed that both theories of the absolute and permanent income explain the consumption behavior of the Algerian families.
