Abstract EN

Given that the goal of democracy is the people’s rule of themselves through representatives, then the goal of the electoral system in the local councils should be achieving real representation of the local electorate.

This can’t be achieved unless a voting mode done with justice, objectivity and transparency is adopted, so that the results of it will lead to the assumption by the major parties of the majority of the posts of the local councils if not all of them.

This can’t be achieved by the proportional voting mode adopted by the Algerian legislator that does not conform to the principles of democracy
