Abstract EN

The following assessment deals with the role of the general assembly in the making of compulsory recommendations and resolutions especially in the fieldof keeping international peace and security as Mentioned I the articles 41 and 42 of chapter 7 in the United Nations charter.

The general assembly is considered as the second important body after the Security Council.

The importance of the general assembly lays in its structure.

It includes I its membership all the countries that constitutes the United Nations.

This is clearly defined in article 9 in the 1st paragraph of the charter and the representation of each member with one voice during the vote.

This latter is defined in article 18 of its charter without any discrimination contrary to the veto case where only the permanent countries use all of their power in the security council.I.e The general Assembly has an overall representation whereas the Security Council has a very restricted representation.

Unlike the Security Council which is unable in many cases to solve problems and conflicts that threatens the international peace and security, theGeneral Assembly is considered as the only body which its resolutions refer to the International will away from any interference or political gains and interests.

This failure and inability help the General Assembly to intervene so as to solve problems and conflicts that threaten the international peace and security by the making of resolutions relying on t(he articles 41 and 42of the 7 chapter in the charter.

This could help reach the main aims of that body in keeping international peace ad security.

This body could overcome all the ties included I the charter according to its articles 11 ad 12.
