The oil market witnessed during the different time stages accelerated developments with repercussions inflicted on the Algerian economy.

Since the performance of the Algerian economy is dependent on the hydrocarbons sector and relies primarily on oil revenues which account for about 95 percent of the country's total exports and 60 percent of the public budget revenues, any change in oil prices will therefore have an impact on some economic indicators, such as the trade balance, GDP, the state budget position, exchange reserves, and the Algerian Revenues Regulation Fund.

This study found that the aforementioned economic indicators are significantly related to oil prices whether rising or declining, which means a positive relationship, indicating the presence of a negative impact of oil shocks on the economic stability in Algeria.
