This research aims to highlight the importance of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture in achieving food security and sustainable agricultural development, it is a strategic resource at the heart of sustainable crop production.

Developed countries consider the seeds of natural plants as green gold.

Conservation and effective use are essential to ensure continuity of crop production and to address climate change and environmental challenges.

The study concluded that Algeria needs to intensify its efforts to promote the conservation and sustainable use of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture through the establishment of a plant germplasm bank for conservation and use of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture to ensure its sustainability through access to highquality varieties resistant to disease, which will make the crop highly competitive in the markets
