Abstract EN

This study aims at measuring the size of defect in the balance of the Urban system of Erbil governorate from 1977 up to now.

It also aims at determining the future possibilities for the sake of achieving the case of balance on the basis of the results of measuring this defect.

The study is done in the urban centers for each period taking into account the administrative development which happened to this system during the period taken for this study.

The statistical data were collected by the researchers and were analyzed and put in tables to be used in the study.

This study uses Mehta Index to measure and analyze the phenomena of Urban domination.

It also uses Entrope Index Rule to measure the Urbanian balance.

The study shows that there is a great defect in the balance of the Urbanian system and there is a complete domination of one city and that there is no precursor to grew any pole to attract population in order to reduce the continuous pressure on the center of Erbil.

In addition, there are no real intermediate cities which can be described to be in their way to become big cities in near future.

The concentration of urban people in the center city of Erbil was the first reason in causing a defect in the Urbanian pyramidal order and in the balance of Urban system in Erbil governorate.

The results of the study refer to the danger of Urbanian growth which is unbalanced in Erbil resulted from the absence of a comprehensive urban policy taking into account the concept of the comprehensive planning system including its partial concepts and its practical applications.

This system could be used as a mean that is modern and necessary to develop the urban system and to control the current directions to distribute cities residents in the governorate.

And at last, there are many of conclusions and recommendation
