In 1993 the United Nations Security Council decided to establish the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in response to large scale crimes committed in the Balkans ،a year later ،following the genocide in Rwanda ،the Security Council established the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda ICTR.
The Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) was established by an Agreement between the United Nations and the Lebanese Republic at the request of the Lebanese government.
The court said "hybrid" or " mixed" .

En 1993، le Conseil de sécurité des Nations-Unies a décidé de créer le Tribunal pénal international pour l'ex-Yougoslavie (TPIY) en réaction aux crimes de grande ampleur commis dans la région des Balkans, Un an plus tard, à la suite du génocide du Rwanda, le Conseil de sécurité créait le Tribunal pénal international pour le Rwanda TPIR.
Le Tribunal spécial pour le Liban (TSL) a été établi par un Accord entre l'Organisation des Nations-Unies et la République Libanaise à la demande du gouvernement Libanais.
Ce tribunal est dit « hybride » ou « mixte ».
