In this article, we seek to explore the legitimacy of the new international practice of the Security Council, which includes the authorization of States to use force between the provisions of the Charter in comparison to international practice.

The Council's authority to use military force is one of the powers vested in the Council for the maintenance of international peace and security.

To apply the collective security measures established in Article 42 of the Charter, noting that such measures taken by the Security Council require that the situation be adjusted in advance to determine whether they threaten, disrupt or constitute an act of aggression as provided for in Article 39 of the Charter.
