Abstract EN

In order to impose theatrical art in Algerian society during, and even after, colonization, the Algerian theatremen were inspired by the Western theater structure.

As for the theatre texts, it began by translating French texts into literary or dialectal Arabic.

Were translated Moliere, Brecht, Beckett, Ionesco ...

etc.

and thus began the borrowing, and then adding elements of popular culture, such as the lector, the Halka (the circle).

This fusion allowed the implantation of the theatrical genre in Algeria.

This new art has since become the best means of telling and defending the Algerian cause during the war of liberation.

After the independence, this merger continued to mark Algerian theatrical writing.

As it is demonstrated in the text of Benaissa, The sons of bitterness.

However, the theatre becomes the world where the profound malaise of the man of the 20th century is reflected ; Identity, ideological, political and even cultural crises.

The theatre then marks a close relationship with other literatures, such as the narrated tale, marked more and more by the orality
