Abstract EN

Reflection on violence is manifested within political philosophy and through all the questions and aporia that it conjures.

In this respect, violence is notably defined by Hannah Arendt as a common denominator which crucially contributes to the history of humanity.

Hannah Arendt was not concerned with setting an abstract concept or constructing a coherent theory about violence, but she rather focused on specific patterns which embody the certainty of violent practice through history as in the case of Nazism and Stalinism.

Hannah Arendt believes that violence is a dilemma because in spite the fact it has at all times been condemned, it is always there in history.

Ironically, nobody supports violence but it is omnipresent.

Focusing on certain patterns of violence clearly expresses Hannah Arendt’s inclination to the Marxian theory, which asserts that the structure of the production process forms the basis of class construction and not the contrary.

Nevertheless, she sounds siding with violence which managed to end the oppression of Jewish by violent regimes.

It is, therefore, very important to know how violence functions in the totalitarian regimes that make violence an ideology.

In this respect, political violence is regarded as the most perilous (dangerous) types of violence which the authoritarian regimes tend to exert on people and this is because on the one hand its victims are numerous and it is ideologically vindicated (justified)on the other hand.

This is simply terrorism that the state exercises in a full consciousness.

The importance of reflecting on violence lies in understanding its complexity, going beyond the prejudices and not just condemning it.

Such objectives will pave a suitable ground for avoiding violence or at least limiting it as much as possible and thus preparing for peace, cooperation and communication.

This is one among the most pragmatic bets to construct the political philosophy.
