Abstract EN

T his article aims to provide a brief presentation of the linear method in which the standard theory of generative phonology -As crystallized in the works of Chomsky and Halle 1968- Treats the Phonological processes in standard Arabic in order to measure the efficiency of this model in processing of such processes and its ability to Predict its characteristics.

We therefore represent it by the process of Palatalization as a property that derived from phonological representation by applying a pattern of rules whose function is to describe the relationship between phonological representation and phonetic representation.
