Abstract EN

Electricity is one of the main and important sources of energy.

It contributes to the development of the economic, that's why the Algerian government interest in this sector.

In this study we tried to shed light on the reality and prospects of the development of the electricity system in Algeria and the volume of fuel used in electricity generation, by analyzing the most important statistics issued by the official authorities.

The results show that the amount of fuel needed for the electricity sector in Algeria is a huge burden on its economy
