This essay presents the different theoretical analyzes of economic growth.
The new-institutional theory has made a great contribution to this analysis.
Indeed, this new theory provides a new analytical tool which is institutions, allowing us to identify the different problems faced by developing countries and to resolve them.
Institutions define the environment in which economic actors operate.
When they are efficient, they encourage investment and thus growth and vice versa.
first , we have had the attempt to define general concepts related to economic growth , then we have emphasized on the main theories of growth with their key contributions.
Finally we have discussed the new institutional approach in defining institutions and their way to affect growth relying on the theoretical and empirical studies of new institutional economists

Ce modeste article présente les différentes analyses théoriques de la croissance économique.
La théorie néo-institutionnelle a apporté une grande contribution à cette analyse.
En effet, cette nouvelle théorie a fourni un nouvel instrument d’analyse "les institutions" qui nous permettent de cerner les problèmes que rencontrent les pays en développement et d’y faire face.
Les institutions définissent l’environnement dans lequel opèrent les acteurs économiques.
Lorsqu’ elles sont efficientes, elles encouragent l’investissement et donc la croissance et vice versa.
Dans un premier temps, nous avons tenté de définir les concepts généraux sur la croissance économique, ensuite nous avons cité les principales théories de la croissance avec leurs principaux apports et enfin nous avons abordé la nouvelle approche institutionnelle en définissant les institutions et leur manière d’agir sur la croissance tout en nous appuyant sur les études théoriques et empiriques des économistes néo-institutionnels.
