In this study, we have tested the impact of economic growth on unemployment in some countries of the Arabic Maghreb (Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco) for the period from 1991 until 2013 by estimating the Okun’s coefficient and testing its signification, and the study was based on; panel data models techniques, and Hodrick-Prescott filter to estimate each of the gross potential and the natural rate of unemployment.
The results showed that there’s no effect of economic growth on unemployment, and the unemployment in these countries is just frictional and structural.
