griculture plays an important role in attaining food security in any country; for this reason Algeria has adopted many policies and plans in the hope of achieving this goal.

During the period (2000-2014), Algeria relied on the national plan for agricultural and rural development (PNADR), then on the agricultural and rural renewal policy.

Despite of the positive results achieved by the sector, such as increasing agricultural product and average per capita income, it remains insufficient under external food dependency, the increase of food imports value, and the increase of food gap.
