Abstract EN

This study explores the effectiveness of a program that encourages the participation of parents in the individual educational plan for the improvement of psychological adaptation of deaf students in the governorate of Zarqa during the academic year 2015-2016.

A sample for the study consisted of 30 parents of deaf children from Zarqa which were randomly divided into two groups: a control group of 15 parents and an experimental group of 15.

For the purpose of this study, the researcher used two tools: )1( a psychological adaptation scale made of 40 paragraphs, and )2( an educational program encouraging the participation of parents in the individual educational plan for the improvement of psychological adaptation of deaf students.

The numbers of sessions were 14 and the duration of each session was 45 minutes.

Measures were applied to check the validity and reliability of the results of the study.

The results showed that the assessment of the level of psychological adaptation of deaf students by the members of the research sample was moderate on the total scale and in all fields.

The results also showed statistically significant differences in the educational program in enhancing the participation of parents in the individual educational plan for the improvement of psychological adaptation among deaf students in favor of the experimental group.
