The 1st publishing (in 1950) of “the Poor’ son “, considered as an unabridged version, has undergone many changes comparing with the Seuil edition (in 1954).
In a large structure, we may note the remove of the 3rd part entitled “The War”; where hard conditions of life in Kalylie were exposed on the eve of the 2nd World War, including poverty, epidemics and social injustices.
At the 2nd part, we’ll see many changes taking their aim to modify the meaning from Michelet’s highlighted sentence in which poverty is considered as a virtue, to Rousseau’s sentence who glorifies the daily hard work.
Some passages removed totally, others modified, for instance: words, syntax changes, both of expressions and paragraphs transformed .
Finally, we deduce that these changes have distorted the author’s intention which shows the real state of the Kabylie and its inhabitant, it goes in the way of telling stories, glorifying the heroes that make that spirit in an incontestable rule within school in spite of the humble real state of the son of the Poor peasant

Le texte intégral du roman Le fils du pauvre dans sa première édition (1950) présente des différences avec celui diminué de l’édition du Seuil (1954) à plusieurs niveaux.
Au plan de la macrostructure, on note la suppression de la troisième partie intitulée « La guerre » où sont mises à nu les conditions de vie insupportables en Kabylie à la veille de la seconde guerre mondiale : pauvreté, épidémies et injustices sociales.
Au niveau de la deuxième partie, on constate diverses modifications : la phrase exergue de Michelet, qui fait de la pauvreté une vertu, est substituée à celle de Rousseau qui glorifie le travail quotidien sérieux.
Des passages entiers ont été supprimés, d’autres modifiés : des mots, des tournures syntaxiques, des expressions et même des paragraphes ont été changés.
On a conclut que ces transformations ont quelque peu dévié la visée initiale de l’auteur dont le but est de montrer la Kabylie et les Kabyles sur leurs vrais visage et non pas se contenter de narrer le récit de vie du héros que jalonnent les succès scolaires en dépit de son humble origine de fils de paysan pauvre
