Abstract EN

This paper examines the role of industrial policies in mapping the structural transformation within the framework of the strategy of sustainable development.

It presents the most important conceptual approaches to effective transformation policies and recent intellectual debates on the best options for industrial development in broad terms, economic diversification and the importance of designing catch-up strategies according to the different conditions and situation of each country.

It also justified the role of manufacturing in particular in the process of structural change based on the empowerment of capacities and productive abilities .

Innovation, the creation of the learning community, the proactive role of the state, and the accumulation of capital are important factors for the success of industrial policy.

It should be noted that these policies need to be integrated with macroeconomic policies both in the demand and supply side, as well as the need for flexible institutional structures to sustain policy action as a whole.
