The full potential of logistics is often unknown, and senior managers sometimes do not realize its importance despite its great ability to contribute to the efficiency of operating hospitals.

Despite several decades of effort to reduce expenditures, very few efforts have been made to improve the supply management process as a solution to many health sector problems by regulating and controlling external and internal flows and finding the most appropriate method of implementation in accordance with the constraints and needs of the hospital supply chain, Which consists of a range of activities that allow the management of informational, material and financial flows in order to reduce costs from top to bottom of the supply chain within time limit and high quality.

In this study, we analyze the evolution of the determinants and fields of logistics interventions at the strategic level and their relationship to reducing supply chain costs in hospitals.

Where, we have reviewed the literature extensively on this subject and analyzed the data collected from hospitals.

We then presented the relationship between the development of these determinants and the fields of cost reduction in a comparative study between Syrian public and private hospitals The results showed weak hospitals' interest in investing in available logistics, a strong correlation between hospital logistics intervention fields and reduced costs, and that the contribution of logistics services could be increased in reducing costs.

We have made a number of recommendations that can guide hospital managers seeking similar improvement in their organizations, such as training the technical teams in the logistics hospital to optimize the utilization of the applicable logistics tools (hospital information system, outsourcing, supply regulation, Development of future trends for logistics.)
