Abstract EN

This study analyzes the labor force in the Syrian Arab Republic taking into consideration the demographic reality that the country experiences and the future visions for developing it during two eras: The first analytical study was between1970 and 2011, and this realized the increasing population and labor force and their contributions to economic activity, the dependency ratio, age structure ratio, and professional and educational ratio.

It also realizes the weak and developing points and how they are distributed to all economic sectors and while comparing them with the labor force pyramid in the developed world and some of the developing countries.

The second study is concerned with future predictions and considers the year 2021.

This will include an estimation of the population and the expected labor force and its distributions to the economic sectors according to a 2010 measurement.

In addition, it will include strategic vision and planning to stabilize the rapid increment in population for containing the annual flow into the job market according to the requirements of current and future stages.

By developing a policy to curb population while reviewing the education system to encourage more technical students, new jobs can be created.

This in turn will be able to assimilate the unemployed labour force into the construction industry which will be a necessary feature required by the reconstruction phase.
