The research is a study in the elegies of the Arab poets in Khorasan, which is one of the deserted environments in the Umayyad Era.

Poets of these elegies were warriors who had left their homes and families to go with the Arab armies to far places.

They were obligated to live in Khorasan for a long time.

They had participated bravely in conquests.

Poetry had been with them in their life and battles.

The research aims to explain the structure of the elegies of the Arab poets in this environment.

It is interested in classifying these elegies into poems (compound poems and simple ones) and sections.

It seeks to explain one issue: How far did these elegies save the inherited poetry traditions? How far did the new environment influence the poets, especially that of battles and wars, and the tribalism that was dominant? And how did these elegies make them follow and preserve the poetic traditions instead of seeking new venues in Arabic poems in that era and that environment.
