Abstract EN

This study included 26 epidermoid tumors treated between the years of 2003 and 2009.

The age of the patients was between 10-66 years with mean age of 28.4 years females constituted 69% while males constituted 31%.

most cases were between 2and to 4th decade of age,(50%of all patients)signs of neuralgia of trigeminal nerve and loss of hearing dominated the clinical picture presenting in 69% of cases.

while headache and diplopia and gait disturbance were only 11.5% of patients .MRI was performed in all patients ,CT was performed only in 6 cases.

they appear as hypointens on T1 on all cases except on 1 was high intens and mixed on 2 patients.

Tumors were located in 77% 0f patients in the cerebello- pontine, the operating microscope and ultrasonic aspirator were used in 85% of cases,15% of tumors were removed using the classical methods.

Total and subtotal removal was achieved in 92% of cases.

Clinical improvement was seen in 77% 0f patients while deterioration in 11.5%, chemical meningitis in 3.8% Complications included loss of hearing in 3.8% while paresis of cranial nerves in 11.55%.

Tumor recurrence in 7.9% of patients and .mortality was 3.4%.
