Abstract EN

The aim of the present study is to understand the general tectonic framework of the area under consideration, the study area is located northwest of the Syrian Arab Republic – Jesser Al Shogour and north of Ghab area - due to its location as main hinge of plate movement.

As well as, to simulate the subsurface geological and tectonic modelling in the study area, by using the complex interpretation of magnetic and gravity data.

The Potential maps was processed to get reduction to pole for the magnetic map, as well as to produce the upward and downward continuation maps (250, 500 and 1,000 meters), second derivative maps, filtering maps (east-west and north- south), structural maps, Regional and residual for both magnetic and gravity maps.

Different processed maps were interpreted to understand the tectonic movement in the study area and to identify major and minor faults where some of them are still active.

The basement shape and the variation of sediments thickness along the study area were determined.

We have identified positive magnetic anomaly south of AL-Rouge depression with negative gravity anomaly which could be the result of the concentration of Iron oxides.
