Abstract EN

The author deals in this play with the story of two women living in a house during the war, as the Old Lady had saved the child (Vido) from destruction and inevitable death.

Vido grew up in the house of The Lady.

Vido proudly did all the house chores.

She made a good maid, affectionate daughter and obedient housewife.

She became a young lady and remained deeply grateful to the one who saved her life.

All of a sudden, Vido, a soldier with blue hair, came to tell her that the war was over, at which she disclosed her decision to the Lady to leave in search of her identity asking her to bless her.

Then a test of wills arises, which is the very focus of this paper.

The Lady refuses and tries to dissuade her using all kinds of tricks.

She begged, she reminded her of the good she did to her and eventually, she threatened to commit suicide.

After a long dispute and quarrels, the wide doors of freedom open for Vido when the old Lady dies suddenly.

Based on the analytical reading of the text and its dramatic structure, Vido’s intent to leave the Lady’s house symbolizes the yearning for freedom while the Lady’s refusal represents the mother's desire to repress Vido and act hegemony and domination on her.

In a comparative study of the absent relationships between the text of the novel and similar texts of the same narrative, one can identify the symmetry between the threshold of the title chosen by the author of Thénardier’s Complex in Victor Hugo’s Les Misérables, not only in terms of the name, but also in respect with the slavery complex inside this family and the dominance complex in the selected play.
