The distortion process is of high importance during the artistic innovation progression in field of painting.

It provides elements formation, formulation and organization in an unnatural way.

A turn in the concept of the piece of art concept during the last quarter of the nineteenth century, where the social life features and principles have changed.

Added to this the scientific advance achieved in technology leading to the introduction of the impressionist trend which replaced the theoretical knowledge with the visual experience.

However, impressionism faced the criticism of its contemporary critics due to its omission and negligence of the subject and all what it is related to human life and problems.

An opposing artistic trend appeared called (Post-impressionism) trend e.g.

Cezanne, Gauguin, Van Gogh.

Where Cezanne introduced the effect of the structural form instead of the aerial effect and restored the adjustment to the shape, that was later on confirmed by Cubism.

Gauguin restored to the colour and shape a simplified ornamented method.

Van Gogh added a personal emotional approach in the piece concept; by this he inspired the expressionist artists thereafter.

Each one of them had his different experience and special attitude making them the pioneers that put the corner stones of modern art principles
