The researcher sought to shed light on international efforts to solve the Chaco problem between 1932 and 1938.

Bolivia and Paraguay fought the Chaco War, a bloody conflict over the control of the northern part of the Gran Chaco (Chaco Boriel), which is believed to be rich in oil.

Landlocked territories in order to better access the Paraguay River, which would give the victorious country access to the Atlantic Ocean.

Although the northern Chaco region had few inhabitants, river control was of great economic importance to each of the poor countries.

The conflict was devastating to both sides.
