Abstract EN

This paper aims at presenting academically a deep insight into the concept of grammar by specifying its importance and demonstrating its terminology of the ancient grammarians.

moreover, this project sheds lights on identifying the senses of grammar and its significances by linguists and university students, and how such terminology- grammar- moves from its linguistic meaning to its terminological one.

in this regard, we use descriptive and historical methodology.

the former is based on deciphering the meanings of grammar and its significances.

the latter is focused on analyzing the meanings of grammar and its terminology as being presented by the ancients.

thus, the findings show that grammar before it was a construction or a science; it is used with various meanings.

then it is developed semantically to express those grammatical terminologies that concern those who are interested in such scientific study like grammarians, researchers, university students…etc.
