Abstract EN
A study was conducted to evaluate the genetic diversity in the three feather’s color types of native turkey for carcass traits and DNA profile using (RAPD) maker.
The incoming result showed a significant difference between male and females of body weight, carcass weight, relative weights of breast and gizzard.
The results revealed significant difference between three feather’s color of body weight, carcass weight and Thai weight.
Furthermore, significant differences for interaction between sex and feathers color were noticed.
The Eigenvalues, percentage of the total variance and communalities of the carcass components of the two genetic types (red and black feather) of Kurdish native turkey, two principal components were extracted from with Eigen values of 3.974 for the first principal component (PC1), and 4.597 for the second principal component (PC2).
The two principal components account for 66.229% and 76.622% of the total variance.
Pearson’s coefficients of correlation between carcass weight and carcass traits for red and black turkey were ranged from 0.819 to 0.308 in red feather turkey and from 0.882 to 0.478 in black feather turkey, respectively.
The correlation between carcass weight and all carcass cuts were positive in both genetic groups.
The RAPD-PCR technique was applied to generate a DNA fingerprint of 28 individual’s birds of both sexes.
Initially, a total of 20 ten-nucleotide arbitrary primers were used, but only5 primers revealed a pattern with scorable amplified bands.
From a total number of 174 scored bands 53 and 121 were described as polymorphic and monomorphic respectively.
The average number of bands per primer varied from 7 to 16 and with sizes varying from 100 to 1100 bp in size.
