Abstract EN

This research aims to present and analyze the role of the state in developing sustainable tourism strategy parameters and the impact on economic growth in MENA countries from the point of view of skills and resources.

and this, counts given the growing importance of the contribution of this sector through two important parameters; GDP and the supply of jobs.

these last two are considered as indicators underline the dynamism of the tourism sector in the economic and social development.

the study covered the period from 2009 to 2017.

the descriptive approach and the analytical approach are used to study the impact of the sustainable development activity.

the paper found that the contribution of tourism activity to economic and social development in the MENA region is low, as well as the limited efforts of governments to develop and maintain skills and resources.

therefore, the study suggests the need to build a strategic model that supports the development of sustainable tourism in which governments interact with other actors as a legitimate actor, as a new means of governance in the tourism sector.
