Plagiarism is a phenomenon that has widely spread in academia, whether in developing or developed countries, ranking at the top of most widespread and dangerous crimes in universities; Algerian universities are not spared from this scourge, as they also witness many plagiarism cases using different traditional and technological methods.

In spite of awareness campaigns and legal procedures carried out by universities to address this phenomenon, they could not put a definitive end to it, what requires exploring more effective methods, such as software, to eliminate it.
