Abstract EN
This study is mainly about models of Tunisian folkloric songs in which the camel is the main focus.
The intense presence of the camel in these types of songs in Tunisia reflects the paramount importance that this animal has enjoyed in the daily life of the Tunisian population, mainly in middle and southern areas.
It has played a central role in all folks of life (mainly nomadic lifestyle).
As the stability movement takes a foothold, the camel's role recedes.
Despite the decline in its status in daily life, the camel has continued to grab the attention of the inhabitants' collective memory.
To carry out this socio-cultural study, the current paper alternates between ethnographic and anthropological approaches based on field work.
In doing that, it seeks to explore many aspects of the cultural identity and cultural specificities of a great proportion of Tunisian population mostly related to the camel.
