In the past recent years, global banks have begun offering islamic financial services beside their conventional financing activities in some markets with considerable demand for islamic financing services.

Other global banks have incorporated entire subsidiaries specialized in innovating and creating new Shariah-compliant services, for the purpose of integrating islamic finance products into their financial systems, as well as the coordinating between headquarter bank strategy and different alternatives to construct monopolistic advantages.

However, these investments in islamic financial industry are not stable in time, they may activate at certain stages and may decline in others, They may also continue in markets and leave others.

The question is whether islamic banking will be a long-term competitive strategy for these banks.
