Abstract EN

Fertility is considered to be one of the three most important phenomena in demography.

Throughout ages, it has witnessed many historical developments that have played an important role in shaping the strategies and policies of countries.

The first noticeable development is the fertility of women worldwide, where the number of births per woman has fallen down from 7 to 8 previously, to 2.5 children per woman by 2017.

The latter differs depending on the region, continent, country, on the basis of the degree of development of the country and its population strategies, as well as the state of health care in the region.

Despite the decline in fertility which has reached the degree of disruption in some areas, the increase in population across the world has continued.

It has moved from 500 million people in 1650 to 7.5 billion people.

Furthermore, the world population is expected to reach 8.5 billion in 2025.
