Abstract EN
First: Problem OfThe Study One of the methods of controllingstress, especially about emotions, is discharging them(Abbasi et al., 2014, p.4).Persons who lack the ability to express negative feelings will have a problem in neutralizing these feelings physiologically, and psychologically (Cited in Hussain & Ahmed, 2014, p.285).
Since stigma is one of the most important pressures that hearing-impairedhave (Review: Kochkin, 1993; Smith, 2000; Jambor & Elliott, 2005); the current study aims to explore the relationship between Self-Stigmaand Psychogenic Alexithymiaamong hearingimpairedadolescents by using a number of tools that were designed in the light of literature, earlier measurements (Past of phenomenon), and a sample of teenagers hearing-impaired (present of phenomenon).
y The study aims to: 1) Identify the relationship between Self-Stigma and Psychogenic Alexithymia among a sample of hearing-impaired.
2) Detect variation of Self-Stigma among the study sample according to age.
3) Detect variation ofPsychogenic Alexithymia among the study sample according to age.
Third: The QuestionsOfThe Study Current study seeks to answer the following questions: General Question:Is there a correlation betweenSelfStigmaandPsychogenic Alexithymiaamong hearing-impaired? From this general question, a number of sub-questions arise: 1) CanSelf-Stigma predict Psychogenic Alexithymiaamongthe study sample? 2) Does Self-Stigma vary according to age among the study sample? 3) Does Psychogenic Alexithymia vary according to age among the study sample? Fourth: The Study Sample The sample was formed from (31) hard ofhearing maleadolescents who attend toEl-AmalTechnical secondary- preparatory Institute - Asyut city; and their ages ranged from 13 to 20+ y.
(M=~18, SD=~2).
Fifth: Study Tools (1)Demographic data scale (Prepared by/ Researchers).
)2)Familysocial and economic level Scale (Razan Kurdy, 2012) (3)Coloured Progressive Matrices (CPM)(Ibrahim Mustafa Hammad, 2008) (4)Five-Minute Hearing Test (FMHT; Kochkin, 2013) (5)Self-Stigma Scale (SSS) (Prepared by/ Researchers).
(6)Psychogenic Alexithymia Scale (PAS) (Prepared by/ Researchers).
Sixth: Study Results 1)Self-Stigma can predict Psychogenic Alexithymiaamongthe study sample;which underlines the strongrelationship between the two variables.
2)The Level of Self-Stigma varies according to agevariable in favor of theage group (19-20+ y.).
3) TheLevel of Psychogenic Alexithymia varies according to agevariable in favor of the age group (19-20+ y.).
