Abstract EN

This work was conducted in the Ninth Island at New Sham Suburb in 2012.

The field study was done for the island to describe the current status of the green spaces and information was collected in terms of their areas, levels (types), area and percentage of each level and their natural and structural components, followed by a desk job included preparing data on the necessary plans to document the current actual in the island after removing discrepancies between what had been marked (supposed) of green spaces in the site plan of island and what was done.

Results showed that there was a clear discrepancy between the marked green spaces on the site plan of island and what was actually done, Where divided green spaces to several levels of a public park, green spaces belonging to the buildings service, green spaces accompany the axes of movement and setback residential buildings which represent 2.4%, 27.3%, 3.5%, 66.8%, respectively, In the area of green spaces of the island, most of these spces have been neglected and planted randomly and untidy and do not offer any kind of services to the population and they need rehabilitation.

Since the setback residential buildings constitute the largest proportion of the total green spaces in the island, one of these was studied in detail by forming a design according of application scientific methodology followed in the study of green spaces.
