تقييم أداء بعض الطرز الوراثية من الذرة البيضاء (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench)‎ ضمن ظروف الزراعتين المطرية و المروية

Abstract EN

A field experiment was conducted in Abu-Jarash Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Damascus University during the growing season of 2015, to evaluate the performance of six sorghum genotypes (Izraa-3, Izraa-5, Izraa-7, Izraa-14, Kharboo-230 and Rezeneh) under rainfed and irrigated conditions.

The experiment was laid out according to split plot arrangement using randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications.

Statistical analysis results indicated to a decline in most of the studied morphological traits, grain yield and its components under rainfed conditions compared with irrigated conditions.

The genotype Kharaboo-230 exceed significantly over other genotypes in plant height (205.85 cm) leaf area index (2.26), relative water content (54.98%), number of grains per plant (505 grain.plant-1 ), 100 grain weight (50.17 g) and grain yield (4.26 ton.ha-1 ) in an average under rainfed and irrigated conditions followed by the genotype Izraa14.

The genotype Kharaboo-230 exceed in most studied traits and grain yield under rainfed conditions compared to other genotypes followed by Izraa-14 variety.

It is recommended to grow the genotype Kharaboo-230 or the variety Izraa-14 under rainfed conditions in this region or can be used as parents in breeding and genetic improvement programme of sorghum.
