Abstract EN

This study aims to highlight the importance of diversifying Algeria's natural gas sources; to strengthen its reserves in the coming decades and to keep its key position as an irreplaceable gas supplier.

In order to do so, Algeria is in need of two non-traditional strategic options: the first is by developing its huge resources of shale gas which exceed those of its natural gas.

The second is by offshore drilling in the rich non-explored Mediterranean basin, and hence comes the exigency of establishing an Algerian exclusive economic zone.
