Abstract EN

Terrorism has an impact on countries because of the various problems of insecurity it creates in the different sectors of society.

This is particularly so for those countries that depends on tourism as a major resource of foreign income and national development.

The study of tourism with regard to terrorism, as a highest form of political instability, has become of a paramount importance, especially after “the September 11 events”.

Since these events, terrorist attacks have taken a global character.

That is the reason why security has become the first concern for all the actors involved in the tourism sector today.

Terrorist groups target touristic infrastructure and foreign tourists for a variety of considerations that the study will try to clarify.

Among the countries that are hit by terrorist attacks, the developing ones are hurt most, such as Tunisia which has known, in recent years, a series of attacks on tourist facilities that sharply reduced the country’s touristic activities.

However, Tunisia is trying, ever since, to take the necessary measures to reverse the situation, as this study will show.

This study aims mainly at trying to study the economic and social effects of the terrorism on the tourism industry in addition to knowing how to cope with these impacts, with a focus on the case of Tunisia.
