Abstract EN

This study aims to identify the phenomenon of domestic violence in the light of different theories to reach a clear definition that is compatible with the nature of its concept, and to identify the main factors leading to domestic violence and its effects on the family and society in the Arab Gulf countries.

The study relies on a theoretical survey on the literary survey of the interpretations of domestic violence that is different in its analysis of this phenomenon.

Some theories are interested in interpreting the situations in which the violence is manifested as the situation creates violence.

Other theories are concerned with explaining the causes of violence by referring to a defect in the family structure and functions, which can help to explain the reasons related to the structure of the family, attributed some of the violence to social and psychological reasons such as the lack of self-control, in addition, to attention to the nature of social pressures that have a prominent role in the commission of violent crimes.

The study is based on descriptive studies aimed at analyzing the phenomenon of domestic violence in the Arab Gulf countries.

The social survey method was used in the sample method.

The research society is composed of experts specialized in the field of family.

A sample was drawn from the research community.

Field data on the measurement of domestic violence in the Arab Gulf countries, and it consists of several axes reflecting the objectives of the study and its questions.

Several descriptive statistical methods were used to present, describe and analyze the study data.

The results revealed the difference in the definition of the concept of domestic violence, and the approval of the respondents to a group of social factors most influential in the incidence of domestic violence on the family and society, and found a total of the effects of this phenomenon from the point of view of respondents of the psychological effects, the social effects and the economic effects of domestic violence.

The respondents agreed on a set of mechanisms to confront domestic violence, the most important of which is the need to build joint strategies among the Gulf countries to confront domestic violence According to these results, the study recommended some recommendations that would protect the family from this problem, including the care of victims through official and civil social welfare institutions, and monitoring the manifestations and forms of domestic violence, and work on characterization and analysis, and then deal with them scientifically according to the psychological perspective social and cultural activities, as well as carrying out more studies and researches that address the issues and problems of the family in society, spreading religious awareness and coordination among the community institutions in order to confront and address this phenomenon.
