Abstract EN

This research paper aims to highlight the impact of oil, as a natural resource, on economic growth in the case of Algeria.

For this purpose, we have adopted the co-integration and the causality analysis method relating oil prices and economic growth during the period 1980-2014.

The study results showed the existence of a long-term equilibrium relationship and the absence of a short-term relationship.

The results also indicated the dependence of economy on hydrocarbons, which means that economic growth is subject to factors affecting oil prices.
