This article aims to study the paratext of the contemporary Algerian novel.

To conduct our research, we opted for Abdallah Aissa Lhilah's novel "Hunter of Sins".

Our analysis will focus on the external paratext, the image that appears on the front cover and drawn by the novelist himself.

It will be a question of interpreting the forms and the colors and to check their adaptation to the narrative frame as pointed out by the French critic Gérard Genette in his work SEUILS
