The study aimed to identify the obstacles to the use of computerized mental maps in teaching social studies in the intermediate grade (related to teacher, student, classroom environment, content) from the view point of teachers in Assir directorate of education.

The study was conducted on a sample of the social studies teachers in the intermediate grade in Assir directorate of education and numbered (90) randomly selected teachers.

The researcher used the questionnaire as a tool for his research which consisted of four axes (teacher, student, classroom environment, content).

The research adopted a descriptive analytical approach to collect and analyze information and using the appropriate statistical methods, a set of results were reached as follows: The study revealed the existence of obstacles that prevent the use of computerized mental maps in the teaching of social and national studies.

One of the most important obstacles (obstacles related to classroom environment) where this axis was one of the most important axes that prevent the use of mental maps in teaching social and national studies.

Whilst the axis of (obstacles related to teacher) was a less one.

The study showed that the most prominent obstacles are represented by the weakness of the students' skills to use computerized mental maps, the preparation of the teacher on theoretical aspects during university preparation, and the limited availability of modern educational equipment and tools.

The study recommended that the teacher should be care of during university preparation in an integrated manner in the theoretical and applied aspects.

The study recommended encouraging professional training and growth during service for teachers, especially with regard to the use of computerized mental maps and to provide the necessary equipment for modern teaching methods
